Memorial Service for Fons Vitae’s Scholarly Advisory Board member, Huston Smith, and Publication of Huston: Remembered by his Friends; 1919-2016

Fons Vitae is honored to pay tribute to one of its most beloved advisory board members and friend of 35 years by publishing a collection of recollections contributed by many of his friends and colleagues. In their beautiful remembrances, Huston’s teachings and beauteous example continue to radiate in a variety of loving stories and anecdotes; this small effort also intends to bring those of us who remain behind – for few brief moments – into a circle, going forth arm in arm. Phil Cousineau mentions Huston’s recollection of the words spoken by Reuben Snake, the Winnebago American-Indian Dalai Lama: Life is a long road, and the best we can do is walk arm in arm down the road with our Friends.

Huston: Remembered by his Friends; 1919-2016, was presented to a gathering of contributors at a lunch at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, April 1. After the service, which followed, a reception was held on the terrace and in the chambers of the cathedral, where friends and family gathered.

An online version of this volume is open for further contributions and tributes. These may be sent to Fons Vitae’s typesetter, Neville Blakemore. His email is blakemore@aol.com
